CBI FILES A SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGESHEET AGAINST THEN CHIEF OF GORKHALAND TERRITORIAL ADMINISTRATION AND 22 OTHERS

            The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed supplementary charge sheet against then President of private organization based at West Bengal & Chief of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) and eight others including an MLA from Kalimpong Assembly Constituency of West Bengal; then Deputy Chief Executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA); then Vice President of said private organization / then Chairman of GTA etc. for criminal conspiracy for murder, criminal intimidation and other offences U/s 120-B r/w 150,  506, 302 of IPC and against 14 others for criminal conspiracy for murder, rioting armed with deadly weapons, committing murder etc. U/s 120B r/w 147, 148, 149, 427, 506, 302 of IPC in the Court of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Calcutta Civil and Sessions Court, Bichar Bhavan, Kolkata(West Bengal) in the sensational case relating to alleged murder of Shri Madan Tamang, President of a private organization of Darjeeling (West Bengal).

            CBI registered the case and took over the investigation of FIR No.89/10 of Sadar Police Station, Darjeeling (West Bengal) dated 21.05.10 U/s 147, 148, 149, 427, 506, 302, 120-B of IPC and added Section 34 of IPC.

            It was alleged in the FIR that at around 09.20 AM on 21.05.2010 while Shri Madan Tamang was busy in the preparation of a public meeting at Club side Motor Stand of Darjeeling, a gang of another private organisation who were armed with deadly weapons suddenly attacked the supporters of said private organisation headed by Shri Madan Tamang. In this attack, Shri Madan Tamang  sustained grievous injuries and was shifted to hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.

After thorough investigation, CBI has today filed a final supplementary chargesheet against 23 accused persons in the Designated Court.

             Earlier, a chargesheet was filed against 31 other accused persons in this case.

            The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it.  Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
